Davis Creek Park is tucked away in the outskirts of Wilmington in a little town called Navassa, NC. Want a quiet place to put in your kayak and explore the serenity of the Cape Fear River? Look no further.

It’s likely you’ve never heard of Davis Creek Park. When thinking of the Wilmington portion of the Cape Fear River, key sights come to mind like touring the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship, strolling along the Riverwalk downtown, or watching sunsets over the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. Those sights come with the hustle and bustle of the city, and crowds can be a turn off when trying to find a peaceful place to drop in the water. Davis Creek park is located not far over the connecting bridges that bring you into Brunswick County in a small town called Navassa. Tucked away off of Cedar Hill Road, the park offers a motorized boat ramp and two kayak launches that put you directly in the Cape Fear River.

During your paddle, you’ll be amazed at the wildlife that you share the river with. Avoiding highly trafficked channels, you’ll be able to stop and as they say… smell the roses. Figuratively of course. Though there aren’t any roses, an interesting crop was once grown along the channels of this area of the Cape Fear. Rice plantations were once plentiful due to the rich soils and flat surfaces. In addition to the beautiful landscape you’re surrounded by, you’re also embarking on a pretty historical adventure.

After a long day of paddling or peddling, enjoy a picnic in the shaded gazebo by the boat ramp. This little slice of serenity will be hard to leave, but easy to come back to! Do us a favor though, keep this between us. We don’t want all of our secrets to be brought to light.
