Forestry Stewardship Corps Volunteer Event @ Paradise Creek Nature Park
Mar 2 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Forestry Stewardship Corps Volunteer Event @ Paradise Creek Nature Park | Portsmouth | Virginia | United States

Paradise Creek Nature Park offers a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Nearly 2,000 adults and children have helped remove invasive plants, planted native trees, weeded garden beds, removed trash from the trails and wetland, and helped maintain education zones throughout the park. See below for volunteer dates and times or contact Urban Ranger Sumoski to schedule a private event for groups of 10 or more.

Programs will be canceled in the event of foul weather: rain, storms, snow, temperatures above 90F or below 40F. Please register in advance so we can notify you directly of any changes.

Help us target invasive plants and rejuvenate the forest of Paradise Creek Nature Park. Invasive plants impact the heath of the forest by killing off natives, changing the habitat, and affecting the food chain. Learn how to identify and remove these plants and what you can do at home to keep them away.

All ages allowed with adult supervision for those under 18.

Interested in volunteering as a group? Please contact us in advance to ensure availability. Spaces are limited.

FREE – Registration Required – (757)-399-7487 ext. 214, ssumoski@elizabethriver.org

Coastal Paddling – Gear Up Part I

“The call of the sea is an incessant whisper; once it enters it never leaves.  Though...

We are now open at Hilltop East Shopping Center and are thrilled to be a part of the Virginia Beach community!  Come by and see us for superior service, selection, and a chance to really get a feel for our products from a staff who know and go outdoors.

In Virginia Beach we’re building on the same legacy of outdoor retail that GOPC has cultivated since 1972. A legacy of integrity. A legacy of treating others the way we would want to be treated. A legacy of putting the customer first. In a world of big-box shops and online retailers, GOPC is a breath of fresh air for both customers and staff. We are still a human enterprise where people matter.
