Join us for a presentation on “The Way of St. Francis” – a breathtaking route between Florence, Assisi and Rome, Italy.
Many people are familiar with the Camino de Santiago, the historic pilgrimage in Spain. Fewer have heard of the Way of St. Francis. At around 537 kilometers (334 miles) this pilgrimage route connects legendary places in the life of history’s best loved saint, Francis of Assisi. St. Francis, a beloved patron saint of animals and nature, walked extensively through the hills of central Italy throughout his life. Join us and learn more about walking through history, in the footsteps of St. Francis.
Our presenter, Author and pilgrim Russ Eanes, a lifelong admirer and student of Saint Francis will take us through the hills, valleys and towns of Tuscany and Umbria, Francis’ enchanted homeland. Russ will share with us many of the experiences that he wrote about in his book “Pilgrim Paths to Assisi: 300 Miles on the Way of St. Francis”.
Some may have an interest in walking the entire route, others may just want to walk for a week or some shorter distance. Some may want to walk this on their own (self-guided), others may prefer a guided experience. There are many ways to plan this type of adventure and this presentation is a great start…
Russ is a writer, walker and cyclist from Harrisonburg, Va. After walking 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago, he was drawn to The Way of St. Francis – where he has walked on his own and also leads groups. Russ is a tour host with Sandy Brown’s tour company, Pilgrim Paths. For anyone with an interest in a roughly two week April Trek led by Russ a link is provided below. In addition to his book about The Way of St. Francis, Russ has also written about his experiences on the Camino de Santiago – The Walk of a Lifetime: 500 Miles on the Camino de Santiago. Both books will be available…
