Shelly Efird: I have been fishing since I was 6 when my grandpa would take be down to the creek on his farm. I knew then that I was hooked. I have a 7 year old daughter that loves it just about as much as I do. If I had to pick one fish I like to fish for it would have to be bass. I love to fish because it makes a person think about what’s at hand and it challenges me. Fishing from a kayak adds to that, as I can’t go up river 10 miles to fish… I have to fish what’s in front of me
I won some events over the years including being named the NCKFA Angler of the Year for three years in a row. I have also been named Carolina Yak Angler of the Year plus some 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in the NCKFA, CKA, and Riverbassin Tournaments. My most favorite gear that I have would be my Hobie, as it has made my fishing a lot more comfortable and enjoyable. I hope I see you on the water this coming year.
