Just when you think you may have outgrown the trail network at the new Brunswick Nature Park you’ll likely encounter good news: There’s more trail.

Currently at this 911-acre nature preserve, a joint effort by the North Carolina Land Trust and Brunswick County, you’ll find about 5.5 miles of trail. That’s expected to grow to nearly 8 soon and to 10 eventually. That’s thanks in large part of the volunteer efforts of trail builders from the Cape Fear chapter of the Southern Off Road Bicycling Association and the Coastal Land Trust. And yes, as that name suggests, this network is multiuse, open to mountain bikers as well. Thus, you’ll need to be alert to faster traffic and a trail with more twists and turns than your typical hiking trail.

As the location suggests, this is a scenic coastal trail network, taking in wetlands, Town Creek and a tangle of lowland vegetation. Bug spray is advised for a warm-weather run.
