Nature invites everyone—all shapes, sizes, ages, genders, races, abilities—but there may be barriers to some people feeling comfortable acting on that invitation.
Join us as we remove fear, add knowledge and extend a warm welcome to the great outdoors.
For Day 2 of our “You Belong Outside” series, we’re hosting a unity hike + meetup at Brumley Forest Nature Preserve!
Day starts with coffee and pastries to fuel several hike opportunities. We will have a meet-n-greet with our Night 1 panelists who look forward to joining in the hike also. Demo opportunity for packs, footwear and adaptive sports cycle.
2 different hiking options will be available:
Pond Walk: Join us for a family-friendly walk to our pond! Expect to walk around 2 miles at a leisurely pace with minimal elevation gain. We will visit the Brumley Nature Preserve Pond, and look for evidence of use by beavers and other critters.
Black Cohosh/Lava Loop: Join us on a 3-4 mile hike to visit some of TLC’s newest trails! We’ll follow a leisurely pace with minimal elevation gain. This option is a bit longer, but we welcome everyone!
Plus, Wes Hall from NC Adapted Sports will be on site demoing some of their bikes that create competitive and recreational sport opportunities that cultivate an inclusive and equitable community for athletes with a physical disability.
