Odds are you didn’t know that Morrow Mountain State Park had bridle trail. It does, and we will be hiking a bit of it — the Bridle Long Loop Trail — Sunday. Expect a hike of 8 to 10 miles that will take 4 to 5 hours on trail “rated as Moderate-Strenuous due to distance & some climbs, although we will stop as necessary for breaks & snacks.” Pack appropriate hot-weather gear, plus snacks and at least two liters of water.
My workhorse harness ‘biner- big enough for everything you need to clip to it. Hot forged with a bomber lock.
I have used this helmet everywhere you can imagine and it has never let me down. Beefy enough for mountaineering and ice climbing abuse and comfortable enough to wear for a fun day at a favorite crag.
This is a full on backpacking boot that definitely retains the Salomon running DNA. Because it’s a bit higher than some modern boots but super comfortable, this is my go to boot for off trail use in rugged terrain with or without a pack, but it’s light enough to be at home on a well maintained trail as well.
