Located about an hour’s drive from our Raleigh headquarters, Hurricane Kayaks is our local kayak brand. Since Hurricane Aquasports was founded in 1998, Great Outdoor Provision Co. has been selling these gorgeous, lightweight kayaks to thousands of happy customers. The reasons for this success are many:
· Hurricane offers a unique construction of Thermoformed ABS polymer with an Acrylic cap. This Trylon material offers a lightweight construction that is comparable to a composite kayak but at a fraction of the cost. The UV resistance of Trylon is far superior to the typical roto molded polyethylene kayak used by nearly every other manufacturer.
· Hurricane Kayaks are light! Most models are 40 lbs. or less. A comparably sized polyethylene kayak will be 50-60 lbs.

Prima 110 Sport:
The Prima 110 Sport has all the same great features as our Prima 125 Sport – just in a smaller package. Same stable multi-chined hull, same roomy Sport cockpit, and the same removable frame seat complemented by fore and aft ABS bulkheads and a large versatile stern hatch. The removable frame seat is a super comfy beach chair outside the kayak. Inside the Prima 110, the seat drops into a specialized interface that adds stiffness to the cockpit and allows you to adjust the seat forward and aft. The Prima 110 Sport is 11 feet of paddling perfection that is ultra light and super easy to maneuver on and off the water. Like her big brother, this little kayak also features sleek deck lines, smooth comfort-grip handles, front deck bungee, a front gear track, and the ability to accept our Sport Console.

Prima 125 Sport:
The Prima 125 Sport is the new head of the 12-foot recreational class. It features a multi-chined hull, roomy Sport cockpit, fore and aft ABS bulkheads, removable frame seat, and large versatile stern hatch. Best of all, at only 45 lbs (40 with the seat removed), the Prima 125 Sport is easy to carry and easy to load.
The Prima’s sleek hull design is complemented by sexy deck lines, smooth comfort-grip handles, front deck bungee, and a front gear track. Add our Sport Console and you’ve got even more fun options.

Santee 116 Sport:
When you’ve got the best in-class recreational kayak, what do you do next? You think about how to make that design accessible to more people. Recreational means a lot of different things to different paddlers. For some folks, recreational means accessories, and accessories require space, so we took the Santee 116 and upsized it. We put some serious cubic inches in the cockpit and voila ― the Santee 116 Sport! A recreational kayak that gives you room for tackle boxes, rod tubes, dry bags and perhaps the family dog ― appropriately clad in a doggie PFD of course. In addition to the extra space in the cockpit, the Santee 116 Sport also features a sealed rear bulkhead and easy to use hinge hatch, and at 36.5 pounds you aren’t sacrificing performance for extra space. Why? Because the 116 Sport rides on the same magic Swede form hull as the 116.

Santee 126:
When we designed the Santee 126, we didn’t set out to redefine recreational kayaks. Our goal was to redefine the recreational category. In other words, we wanted to bring a new standard to what rec paddlers could expect on the water, and with the Santee 126 we accomplished the mission. This boat glides and tracks like no other, so fun becomes effortless and instantaneous. If you wanna get a little aggressive, the 126’s multi-chined hull gives you the ability to carve some tight turns, and with the fully adjustable seat system, your rear end and lower back won’t bark at you after a full day on the water. There’s even a paddle holder and rear deck security bar. Speaking of bars, we raised the bar for the recreational category with the Santee 126.

Santee 126 Sport:
This recreational kayak ups the ante on the industry-changing Santee 126 by adding an oversized cockpit, and it does so without sacrificing one iota of performance. In other words, you can still track like you’re on rails, still carve turns, still have more fun than should be legal in most states. The 126 Sport gives you room for fishing gear, photography equipment, and camping gear too ― whatever you need. The cockpit is a spacious 55 x 24 inches, and 55 x 24 = a whole lot of comfort.

So you want a tandem kayak, which means you want an extra seat to share the experience, but you’d rather not paddle a polyethylene barge. That’s why we designed the Santee 140T ― a tandem kayak with a solo soul and lightweight attitude. It cuts through the water with stability and performance, and, with our unique Trylon construction, it weighs in at a svelte 57 pounds, which means you won’t need a winch and pulleys to get it off your racks. There’s also a roomy hatch and some added cockpit space for your day-tripping gear. You can even adjust the front seat for solo paddling on those days when you have no choice but to travel alone.

Skimmer 140 Tandem:
Paddlers have been begging for a lightweight alternative to the heavy two-person polyethylene sit-on-tops on the market, so we put a tandem SOT deck on a proven lightweight hull design. Fully-featured from bow to stern with two 5.5-inch day hatches, a 8-inch bow hatch, two adjustable Airestream seat backs, and two new Skimmer Cushpads, the Skimmer 140T is designed for folks who like to spend time exploring with a friend. If a partner isn’t available, the addition of a clip-on seat allows the Skimmer 140T to be used solo, and this tandem is light enough that solo really is an option. THE SOJOURN 135 is a day touring kayak for the masses that offers high initial stability pared with excellent speed and agility. At 13 feet 5 inches long, this Sojourn is long enough to hold its own against most kayaks you’ll encounter on the water and short enough to easily hang on the garage wall.
