Nathan Wiles: My interest in kayak fishing began in 2008 with my son, Hayden Wiles, while he was a member of the Boy Scouts. My passion has been and will always be crappie fishing but enjoy chasing other species as well. Since 2008, we fish in approximately 12 tournaments per year including the yearlong NCKFA On-Line tournament which begins in March of each year and concludes in November. This online tournament is designed to fish for a specific species each month ranging from carp to catfish, bass to crappie, trout to redfish and flounder to smallmouth. Other tournaments include several KBF events, the Yadkin River Slam(High Rock Lake), TJM Memorial Charity Tournament in Wrightsville Beach, Midnight Madness Catfish Tournament, Oak Island Classic, Spots and Specks Tournament and have also traveled to Jacksonville, FL and fished the JAX Classic in May.
I have been fortunate enough to be on the GOPC Kayak Fishing Team for 3 years as well as a member of the Hobie Fishing Team for the same duration. I enjoy promoting the sport of kayak fishing as well as supporting my sponsors such as GOPC, Hobie Cat and Polar Bear Coolers by way of fishing seminars, working trade booths and several boat and fishing shows in Jan and Feb each year.
