Copperhead Island is a 14-acre retreat from hustle and speedboat bustle of Lake Wylie. With primitive camping only and separated from the mainland’s boat ramps, the island offers a nice escape, albeit one with all the amenities of the nearby McDowell Nature Center and Preserve, including 7 miles of hiking trail. The sites are walk-in, but it’s a short walk. And the “island” is connected to the mainland making for easier access. is Copperhead Island is a group site, and must be rented in its entirety.
