West Morris Campground

The Uwharrie National Forest has epic adventures that beg an overnight stay — if for no other reason than you’ll be too pooped to drive home afterward. There’s the 20-mile Uwharrie National Recreation Trail, for instance, which runs north-south through the heart of the Uwharries (and can be accessed right off the campground). Or the Wood Run Mountain Bike Trail System, a baby bear/mama bear/papa bear network consisting of the 11-mile Wood Run Trail (easy), 5-mile Supertree Trail (moderate) and the 6-mile Keyauee Trail (more difficult). Oh, and there’s oceans of paddling on nearby Badin Lake.
