Great Outdoor Provision Co. Charlotte will be conducting a Sea Kayak Navigation Course this Winter. Here are the details:
What – A Basic Sea Kayak Navigation Course covering classic navigation techniques using a nautical chart, compass, course plotter and watch.

When – Six consecutive Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Feb 4, 11, 18, 25 and Mar 4, 11
Duration – Six consecutive weekly sessions, each one building upon the foundation of the former ones.

Provided – Fundamentals of Sea Kayak Navigation by David Burch and a Small Craft NAV-AID Course Plotter
What you need to provide:
- NOAA Chart #11545 Beaufort Inlet and Part of Core Sound (This is a 1:40,000 scale nautical chart of the Cape Lookout, NC area, a wonderful place to explore by sea kayak.
- NOAA Chart #1 (a reference book of chart symbols)
- 6” clear plastic ruler
- Sanford Fine point “Sharpie” pen (Black)
- Something to take notes with
