Saturdays in Saxapahaw - May thru September
The weekly festivities include performances by top bands featuring bluegrass, back porch, roots, americana and old time music and a thriving Farmer’s Market with fresh local produce, cheese, eggs, baked goods, flowers, honey, organic meat, locally produced wine, hand made arts and crafts and more. Every week, CERES, Saxapahaw’s local quality of life organization sets up exciting events and activities for children including the Famous Zipboat, the Environmentally Engineered Slip-N-Slide, face painting, children’s arts & crafts and a weekly kid’s parade. Festivities take place every Saturday from 5pm-8pm through the end of August. Admission is free though donations are appreciated, organizers pass around a “Swan Bucket” each week for the band. It’s a beautiful day out! Come On Along!!!

Triangle Land Conservancy is teaming up with Haw River Assembly and the General Store Cafe of Pittsboro for a Burrito Bash! Join us on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the General Store Cafe (39 West St, Pittsboro) for music, dancing, a silent auction, and of course, burritos! 3rd Annual Whitewater Festival @ UNSNWC - Sat, Sept 13
Begins at 9 am and live music will start at noon. Activities include a Kid Zone, gear clinics, raft races, rock climbing & more. There will also be a Jeep Adventure Race, which is an off-road triathlon.

Take A Child Outside Week is an international program designed to help break down obstacles that keep children from discovering the natural world. By arming parents, teachers and other caregivers with resources on outdoor activities, our goal is to help children across the country develop a better understanding and appreciation of the environment in which they live, and a burgeoning enthusiasm for its exploration.
