Fly Fishing Class | 1 Spot Left!
A very comprehensive one day course for 8 students. We’ve packed a lot of information into an 8 hour day, including: casting, knots, equipment, fishing strategies and fly selection, for coldwater, warmwater and saltwater species. Beginners can expect to learn the skills that will allow them to catch fish on their own, and intermediate level fly fishers can advance their casting skills and fill in some holes in their technical knowledge. We provide all equipment, including a textbook, as well as lunch and drinks. Just bring a willingness to have fun and learn, but register early, they fill up fast.
Clearwater Lake is a quiet, picturesque 5 acre lake in Chapel Hill. It’s now part of a YMCA day camp although it was originally a sand quarry. It’s both colder and clearer than most central NC ponds, which gave rise to the idea of a trout stocking program. The lake is stocked with trout in mid-October, depending on weather. So our October 30th class should have trout to fish for. There are native bass and pan fish in the lake year round.
