We give back to outdoor cornerstones that have marked our lives. For example, we chose local land trusts because they acquire land for protection thus preserving open space for adventure. Scout Troops provide the leadership and skills that enable young people to safely enjoy the wilderness. Habitat For Humanity works to provide affordable housing for families in need. Clothing Philosophy
When we opened for business in the early 70’s, we soon discovered that the clothing we regarded as essential gear for hiking, camping, climbing and so forth was regarded by most of our customers as “sportswear” or even “fashion.” A down jacket that could protect us in a harsh mountain environment was also a fashion piece. Over time, we expanded our sportswear offering to cover clothing that was not “gear” in the sense that a down jacket is gear, but that still represented the kinds of clothes we would grab when going outside.
Our standards for sportswear are very different from those of department stores or men’s and women’s ready to wear shops. Sportswear at Great Outdoor Provision Co. is selected with an eye toward construction integrity, comfortable fit, colors that have the fashion legs to last as long as the garment, and have that hard to describe “something” that will make our clothing your favorites.
Of course we still have clothing representing the latest technology that enables us to explore the ends of the earth safely and in comfort. We have and will always have, clothing for harsh weather; cold, wet, windy, hot, sunny, buggy and whatever else nature can throw your way. We guarantee its function, and are proud of how it fits, looks and wears.
All clothing at Great Outdoor Provision Co. is designed for the way you truly live. What you do with your leisure time and outdoor rambles is, of course, your business; what you wear, is ours.
