DESCRIPTION: In terms of steadiness, the Dirigo Tandem Plus is not quite as rock solid as a 31 wide tandem Rec kayak. However, this kayak is plenty stable for all but the most ungraceful of adults! In terms of seaworthiness, the Dirigo Tandem Plus really stands out from the crowd. This tandem can handle the kind of choppy conditions often found on larger lakes and coastal environments. An experienced team can take the Dirigo Tandem Plus out on 2-3 ft seas under 15 knot winds. Taking the typical tandem Rec kayak out under such conditions is a recipe for disaster. In terms of efficiency, the Dirigo Tandem Plus can be expected to cover 5 miles in an hour of paddling by a team of average paddlers. In terms of maneuverability, the Dirigo Tandem Plus is considerably more maneuverable than a tandem Rec kayak provided the paddlers understand how to edge the boat to make it turn better.
