DESCRIPTION: The Hurricane Excursion 128 is basically a redesigned Expedition 128. Compared to its predecessor, the new Excursion 128 has an improved hull design that offers better tracking when paddled flat and more responsiveness when paddled on edge. The new deck layout is sleeker and offers key safety features such as perimeter deck lines and paddle float rescue rigging.
The Excursion 128 is designed to be a roomy, steady and versatile kayak. At only 47 lbs, this is one of the lightest Hybrid kayaks that can still fit a wide range of paddlers. The secret to this weight savings can be found in its Thermoformed construction.
Two sheets of ABS plastic with an Acrylic cap are heated, vacuum formed and bonded together. The result is a kayak that is light, attractive, stiff and with 5 times the UV resistance of the typical Polyethylene boat. Although the Thermoformed ABS construction yields greater UV stability, abrasion resistance and stiffness, ABS is not as impact resistant as Polyethylene. Consequently, Thermoformed ABS is not recommended for abusive environments such as Whitewater.
This kayak is well suited for relaxed trips on lakes, slow moving deep rivers, estuaries and other semi - protected waterways.
The Excursion 128 is very user - friendly and offers a good blend of tracking, stability and maneuverability. An average paddler can expect to cover 3 miles in an hour of paddling.
