It is through adventures such as the recent MST Endurance Run that we maintain a vibrant connection with you and help to conserve open space across North Carolina. It’s pretty simple. Your support of our local business enables us to give back to the areas and the causes that we know make a difference. Thanks for joining us in this adventure.
celebrated all of April
Earth Day comes around each year to remind us of ways we can “green” our lifestyle every day. At Great Outdoor Provision Co. we celebrate April as “Earth Month” with programs and activities for the entire family.
celebrated the first Saturday of June
We know that you are interested in preserving the places you love. Land Trust Day is one way to help local land trusts acquire land for protection thus preserving open space for adventure. Year round opportunities for service can be found with The Friends of the Mountains-To-Sea Trail, the Piedmont Environmental Alliance and many other conservation groups across North Carolina.
celebrated every May
The Mountains-to-Sea Trail (The MST) is North Carolina’s premier flagship hiking trail. It is part of North Carolina’s renowned state park system, and the trail crosses land managed by a diversity of federal, state and local agencies. Along the way, it passes through many small, historic towns which allow hikers to experience the culture and friendliness of North Carolina’s people as well as its extraordinary natural beauty.
celebrated all year long
Scouting has always been close to our heart as a great way for kids to learn not only appreciation for the outdoors, but also invaluable leadership skills for their lives. For over 40 years the passion for outdoor adventure has driven our business which includes are mission to get kids outside. Research indicates that children tend to be healthier, happier and smarter when adventures in nature are a frequent part of their childhood.
Great Outdoor Provision Co. supports outdoor youth programs through Trusty’s Trailblazers which encourages the relationship between children and nature. Your support of our local business helps to make programs like Jr. Rangers, Y-Guides and many more outdoor youth initiatives possible.
annual fall event
Your support of our Annual Coat Swap helps to provide outerwear to individuals and families as winter weather approaches. Through your help we have donated over 10,000 coats to local missions over the past eight years.
celebrated first Saturday of December
A weekend of camping in the rain gives one perspective on the comforts of home. So as a neighborhood shop we have a small role in social entrepreneurship—lending a helping hand for the common good. We recognize that folks have needs and we look for creative ways to assist when possible. Out of our desire to help, the first Saturday of every December we donate 5% of our sales to Habitat for Humanity.
