The great thing about a new and developing venue — Brunswick Nature Park was established in 2010 — is that nearly every time you pay a visit, there’s more trail.

That’s especially true at the 911-acre Brunswick Nature Park, where the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust and Brunswick County have adapted a multi-use approach to the growing trail network. Hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians — all will have access to the trails here. Oh, and there’s a paddle trail accessible via a canoe launch on Town Creek.

Currently, there’s anywhere from 2 to 5.5 miles of trail open, with an eventual build out of up to 10 miles planned. And it’s a good bet that additional trail will come on line soon, since the trail-building effort is being added by volunteers from the Cape Fear chapter of the Southern Off Road Bicycling Association. As a result, expect the trails here to be a bit more twisty and turny than the typical hiking trail.
