National Trails Day 6.2.07 - 60 volunteers attended Falls Lake to assist the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST). Great Outdoor Provision Co. and The North Face presented a check for $1,000 for our hard work. Thanks to them for 
supplying breakfast and other outdoor giveaways to our volunteers! Bruce Wisely was also recognized by American Hiking Society as the Mid-Atlantic volunteer of the year - only 9 people were selected for this award across the United States.

We’ve got the new line of North Face sleeping bags in stock! You also may see some familiar faces in the lineup, but the updated models offer a few critical upgrades. The North Face Blaze bag picked up a few plush features for 2007. Tops on the list include a brushed tricot lining at the feet to help keep toes toasty and a zippered footbox that enables the bag to be unzipped into a blanket. With an even longer history as a standard-setting bag, the 
Cat’s Meow 20 degree is a perennial favorite that didn’t need much changing. So North Face kept the same features on the latest rendition and still shaved weight from last years model. It also comes with its own compression sack so you don’t have to make an aftermarket purchase. We also carry the Women’s Cat Meow with a Gender specific fit.

The challenge and fun of single track trail runs takes on a new dimension with the GoLite Trail Fly and Sun Dragon. Protection and superb traction are the dimensions that shine above all. The shoe’s outsole adapts to rugged terrain using “trail-claws” that improve stability and performance. I found the “grip-stick” claws excellent For hill climbs up wet terrain. The trail-claw footbed works well to provide great displacement over uneven terrain and improves confidence for downhill plunges over mid-sized scree (golfball to baseball size). The mesh upper has been very comfortable on these hot days. Great addition to the trail.
